Hello from Corowa...

October off to a flying start

We unofficially branded the first week of October ‘Permit Week 2020’ – a very exciting few days which saw four of our projects all receive or move towards planning approval.

A very busy couple of months are in store for the team as we continue work on the next phase of each project.

We look forward to sharing updates with you on them all as they further progress.

In the meantime, keep an eye on our website for project updates.

Best in Practice Prize Judging

Earlier this month our Design Director Phillip was invited to sit on the jury for the 2020 Best in Practice Prize.

An initiative launched in July last year by the AIA as part of the NSW Architecture Awards, the Best in Practice Prize recognises excellence in practice, with a focus on the development of inclusive workplaces that contribute to the overall success and elevation of a positive workplace culture within our industry.

Phillip has spent the past couple of weeks undertaking judging of the shortlisted practices, and will be virtually “visiting” each with other jurors in the coming weeks.

Passionate about nurturing a positive and supportive workplace culture here at Regional Design Service, the judging experience has been an incredibly valuable and insightful experience for Phillip.

The winners will be announced in November. Click on the below link to learn more about the Prize.

Project Update – Mackay Studios

Earlier this year we met with an incredibly talented client who allowed us the pleasure of creating an artists’ studio for her in Rutherglen, Victoria.

A privilege to design; it is light-filled, spacious, highly functional and sits sensitively within its location.

Inside, North-facing apertures (a combination of polycarbonate 'windows and doors' allow for abundant diffused light, while a washroom and small kitchenette are located discreetly off the main studio space.

Outside, the building’s exterior materials thoughtfully compliment two structures that are already located on the site.

‘Mackay Studios’ as it is now known, was one of our projects to receive planning approval last week, meaning we are now well underway with the next phase which includes construction documentation and tendering with the clients’ builder.

A planned completion date is set for 2021, so be sure to watch this space!
