School of the Month: Chaska Middle School East
Principle Beth Holm highlighted some of the important work being done this year at CMSE
CMSE staff are reading "We Got This" by Black author Cornelius Minor. The book title has also turned into their theme for the year.
The Parent Equity Group is focused on getting perspectives and evaluating resources being used for monthly cultural observances.
Transparency with parents is a priority. One example is keeping parents updated on what staff is doing for personal development, most of which is equity based.
Every administrator is leading a book club and weekly podcast club centered around equity.
Feedback is given to students during WIN sessions on the steps being taken to make the building culture welcoming for all.
Department meetings are focused on content and what voices are being missed and making changes accordingly.
All secondary schools were apart of an implicit bias presentation on 12/2/19.
