Hello Hello, we hope everyone is staying safe during back to school season and with all the new restrictions being put in place. Summer has come to an end but we can look forward to CEPs upcoming events! Our monthly speaker series returns this month, with CEP Calgary teaming up with Calgary Alliance for a Mayoral Forum via zoom on September 30. We are also excited to announce the CEP Reconnected Conference happening from October 14th-16th, more information for both events below. Calgary Votes: Mayoral Forum

September 30, 7pm-9pm

Calgary Alliance for the Common Good 

 

Join Calgary Alliance for the Common Good for a Mayoral Forum allowing citizens to hear from the candidates about their vision for the city as they campaign in the 2021 municipal election. If you are interested in attending this event and would like to ask questions to the candidates, time permitting. Send your questions to cepcaglgay@gmail.com with the subject line "Mayoral Questions" and we will forward your questions to the Calgary Alliance for the Common Good..

CEP is launching the first virtual conference called CEP Canada Reconnected in collaboration with chapters in Calgary, Vancouver, Toronto, and Ottawa. Connect with sustainability and environmental professionals across Canada from Oct 14- 16 on topics important to Canadians.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 

September 30th

Canadian Statutory Holiday

 

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation responds to Call to Action 80 from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada: Calls to Action, which reads:

"80. We call upon the federal government, in collaboration with Aboriginal peoples, to establish, as a statutory holiday, a National Day for Truth and Reconciliation to honour Survivors, their families, and communities, and ensure that public commemoration of the history and legacy of residential schools remains a vital component of the reconciliation process."

Upper Fish Creek Restoration Day

October 2, 10am-2pm

by Cows and Fish and the Fish Creek Watershed Association

 

Join Cows and Fish and the Fish Creek Watershed Association for a willow harvest and riparian planting day in the McLean Creek Public Land Use Zone, the upper headwaters of Fish Creek.

 

Volunteers will learn more about willow harvesting and simple bioengineering approaches for streambank rehabilitation. Connect with others in the Fish Creek Watershed Association and learn more about the Upper Fish Creek watershed and ways to be involved.
