Dear Friends and Supporters,
I find myself taking the long view these days. I am thinking about where I've been, taking in where I am and looking to where I am going.
Two years ago I was notified that I would be exhibiting at Artistry at the Bloomington Center for the Arts in January/February 2021. It seemed so far off. What a gift that the gallery re-opened and I could again haul sculptures, prepare things to hang and share install ideas with the curator.
I am so pleased and proud to greet my audience tomorrow night on zoom to talk about this exhibit Woven. I hope you can join me and the 2 other amazing fiber artists.
As you may recall, I was awarded a Creative Support grant to fund the purchase of some high level photography lights and to update my website. I had to chuckle as I received the funds on December 23, and had to make quick work of it to spend the bulk of it within a few days so I wouldn't end up with a substantial tax hit!
While doing the upgrade, I decided to include my multimedia work in the artwork gallery and shop. I resonated with art critic and author Jerry Saltz when in his book How to Be An Artist he encouraged artists to see the expanse of their creative energy.
I feel as though I'm holding the "both...and..." during these times. I wonder if you are too and, if so, what it looks like in your heart and mind.
Feel free to share if you'd like.
Martha
