“What is the first step organizations can take to impact the supply chain?” Frances Edmonds (She/Her/Hers) from the Head of Sustainable Impact at HP Canada shares some advice: “Ask all of your suppliers if they have measured their carbon footprint, set goals to reduce it, and publicly disclosed this data. It is likely that most won’t have done that yet but simply by asking you are sending an important signal into the marketplace that it is important. We will not meet Canada’s climate and other sustainability goals unless we all lean in to become carbon literate and start taking action.” The supply chain may seem like an enormous challenge to tackle. But never forget - the littlest of actions add up to make the greatest impact. Frances Edmonds Head of Sustainable Impact; HP Canada |

Healthcare Workers in Action Active transportation isn't typically at the forefront of environmental concerns within healthcare, but for Registered Nurse Emily Slofstra and CycleWR founder, it's been a concern whether working in the Emergency Department, Public Health, or in primary/community care. |
“CycleWR was founded in 2018 to advocate for cycling as a safe, respected, convenient and everyday mode of transportation in Waterloo Region. Since then we've seen construction start on a separated cycling network in downtown Kitchener, and many more projects spread across the Region that will allow for safe cycling from the north of Waterloo to the south of Cambridge. With the upcoming municipal election in 2022, CycleWR will host Rides with Candidates to show prospective councilors how important cycling, walking and rolling are for environmental health, injury prevention, and equity. Transportation advocacy is just one way healthcare providers can work for a greener, more equitable future." - Emily Slofstra, RN, PhD, CycleWR Founder |
