What We’re Up To

Kinship Café June 24, 2021 at 7 pm in the evening!

Our first three Kinship Café gatherings were scheduled for 10-11 in the morning.  This is a good time for some families.  Others have asked for an evening session.  The first evening Kinship Café will take place on Thursday, June 24th, 7-8 pm, by zoom.  Register through our web site in advance and a link will be sent to you a day ahead.  You may also register on the day of the event to get the link to join in.

RSVP at https://www.azga.org/events

This will be an open conversation focused on our experiences with education as we look back on the pandemic year and look ahead at the coming school year.  If there are other topics more important to the families who join the session, we can change the focus of our discussion.  This time together is intended to allow us to share our experiences and learn from each other.  Ann Nichols will facilitate June 24 and any future evening sessions.  Watch for info on July and August Kinship Cafés.

Planning for the AZGA Virtual Summit September 11, 2021

Planning is underway for our 12th annual AZGA Summit, the second virtual one offered by zoom.  Watch for opportunities to give your input.  We plan to try a Survey Monkey to see which issues are most important for our advocacy work.  It will be short and easy to use.  We will also offer other ways for our members to tell us your ideas.  Come to the Statewide Meeting if you are interested in hearing more details of our plans.

Upcoming Workshop:  Lions & Tigers & Bears, Oh My!  September 23, 2021

The Impact of Holidays and Birthdays on Children Separated from Their Mothers. On September 23, 10 am, Anna Loebe will offer a workshop on helping kinship families navigate the emotional effects of holidays and special occasions on the children in your care.  Practical suggestions will be offered as we learn how to anticipate and work with some of the stresses of these important celebrations.
