Tree Felling and Tree Planting |
Trees downIf you have visited us at Trenewydd Fam, you'll know that at the front of Cosy Cottage were eight very overgrown pine trees. Not only were they casting shadow onto the cottages and blocking the view, but they were actually very dangerous as it was impossible for check for traffic as you pulled out into the road. It was already in our minds to take the trees out, and after a near-miss with another car we decided to crack on with that! So here's the before, during, and now... we'll have lovely 'after' shots to post once we've finished painting the walls, clearing the area completely, and putting in some colourful plants and bushes. This area has already had quite a lot of work done, as there was also a pampas and other old plants that have already been replaced with a damson fruit tree and a magnolia - we can't wait to see these bloom for the first time next spring. |

As an added bonus, we removed the iconic eagles from their pedestals, cleaned them up, painted them, gave them eyes(!) and they're back in pride of place keeping a beady eye on the comings and goings. Majestic, yes? |
Trees upOf course, we're not going to simply remove eight fir trees without redressing the ecological balance... oh no... so we have 20 silver birch trees winging their way to Trenewydd Farm as we speak. The plan is to create a quiet seating area at the top of our field, from where there is a beautiful view of Ceibwr Bay on one side, and Cardigan Bay on the other. We're making a lovely bench, leaving an area of long grass, and we're planting bee- and butterfly-friendly shrubs. It will be a small haven from life! |

In our last newsletter, we talked about our new FootGolf course which we set up here at Trenewydd Farm over this summer. So we've been in touch with FootGolf Wales, and we're talking about the possibility of hosting a tournament next year - very exciting! It's something fun to look forward to, and we all need some of that. We'll keep you informed, so watch this space. Or follow our Facebook page for updates. |

Newcomers to the Farmyard |
Welcome to the new additions to our farmyard - six Light Sussex chickens! Loads of eggs for collecting by young guests, always a favourite activity while staying at Trenewydd. We gave them a new coop to make them feel at home... and then the chickens we already had made a fuss, so they got one too. |

If We Book, What About Coronavirus Restrictions? |
We're still not quite there in terms of certainty, and what lies ahead. But as always, our guarantee is that if you want to go ahead and make sure you have something in the diary, and then you aren't able to come because of corona restrictions, we'll either move your or your money will be refunded. No quibbles, no questions. We've had a couple of bookings over Christmas and New Year, but there's still availability. We are starting to get interest for Easter and May next year, too and Oak Cottage is already booked out for the six-week school summer holiday, so look ahead, book ahead, and don't miss out! |
