drop into my studio this Friday afternoon |

As we all find our way gingerly back out and about, I've had a week thinking about where I'm headed next (geographically, artistically, professionally, emotionally:)... On my desk is a painting started with a lovely workshopper zooming in from far away, and I must admit I'm SO KEEN to get out and away from the city as soon as possible. Luckily my wanderlust has been somewhat indulged as I've had a week of wrestling maps and dates and finalising some exciting developments for Accompanied Adventures in 2022. |

The biggest news here involves two special guest hosts we've enlisted to accompany some adventures next year. If you're an artist you are probably familiar with the wonderful Carly LeCerf who took a nanosecond to jump onboard, if you'd like to paint alongside her I think you'd better be quick! If you're an artlover partial to red earth, please have a look at her work. Emily Eckhard is our guest photography tour host - Em is legendary for her knack capturing people and places with sensitivity and warmth, and I know photography enthusiasts will be jumping at the chance to hike Watarrka (Kings Canyon) with her at golden hour. We are anxiously awaiting dates to be confirmed for Desert Mob and Desert Song in September - we're putting together a classic tour for creative spirits keen to engage with the art and landscapes of Central Australia. You can have a look at photos from previous adventures and find out more by clicking the link below. |

This painting is called 'Perpetual' and is available via Saint Cloche Gallery online. I painted this after a trip to the Finke Gorge in 2019, the area had been burnt and it was just all red and black, but there were signs that it was all about to spring back into life. Somebody pointed out to me after the painting was finished that there's a smokey maiden in the rocks next to the tree, she found her way there by herself. |

Friday fangirl feature #1: Carly LeCerf is a big hearted painter painting big landscapes. Based in rural WA, she has a reputation for her intrepid travelling and heartfelt connection to the landscape, as well as fellow landscape painters scattered all over Australia. She was a no-brainer for an Accompanied Adventure host. Carly was interviewed recently by Willy Russo - her spirit of adventure and love of painting shines through her voice, it's a great listen:

Friday Fangirl feature #2: Emily Eckhard and I met in Orange at the Corner Store Gallery many years ago, and we consequently exhibited together in a show called Treestories. I absolutely love Em's work, it sometimes makes me teary. Her photos brim with tenderness for her subjects - both animate and inanimate. Em's nature and love of nature will make her a great host. Have a look at her Instagram account, I dare you not to be moved..

This is how Accompanied Adventures started, painting on a family trip - then returning with some supportive friends who encouraged me to make more journeys with others who would find it hard to achieve an adventure like this on their own. I'd love to show you my favourite places! If you have your own group already formed, ask me about organising a bespoke tour just for you. Thanks for reading, please share freely!
