Dear Supporter

Momentum is building. It’s less than 100 days until the UK hosts COP26 in Glasgow, and the climate is a more critical issue than ever. This week, the IPCC have said there’s ‘no time for delay and no room for excuse’, calling on all Governments and stakeholders to make COP26 a success.

That’s why it’s so crucial that churches across Britain and Ireland have been taking action: spending time exploring the climate crisis, committing to action and speaking up for change. Your part in this movement is invaluable.

Now is the time for action.  Don't miss this opportunity to get involved with the largest coalition of UK churches taking action on the climate this year by holding and registering your Climate Sunday service and joining us at the Nations' Climate Sunday service on 5 September 2021.

Have you held and registered your Climate Sunday yet?

If you haven't already, plan your Climate Sunday service for the Autumn.  Come together to pray and reflect on the climate crisis.  You can hold your service anytime before COP26 begins on 31 October.

We're asking you to do three things as part of this service: reflect on how to care for creation, make a commitment to action on the environment in your community, and tell politicians that we want a cleaner and greener future.  Find out more about our asks on our website: climatesunday.org.

The collective impact of these local services, church commitments and action will be presented in Glasgow on Sunday 5th September 2021 to demonstrate that the Church is calling on our government to lead the way in delivering a cleaner, greener and fairer future.

Don't forget to register your service at www.climatesunday.org/register so we can count you in!  We're building the strongest voice possible to call for change.  Register before 5 September to be counted in our Nations' Climate Sunday service at Glasgow Cathedral.

How to get started planning your service:

  1. Use our service resources to plan your service: Find here examples of service plans, lists of music and hymns, readings, sermons, prayers, and resources for young people to inspire you.

  2. Be inspired by other churches’ Climate Sundays: We’ve put together a playlist of Climate Sunday services to inspire and encourage you here.

Join us for the Nations' Climate Sunday Service in Glasgow on Sunday 5th Sept, 4pm

On 5 September, we'll be coming together to pray and to present our pledges to the Government on our Nations' Climate Sunday service.  It will be a time to share in worship, celebrate what churches are doing, and commit ourselves to further action.

The service will be broadcast live from Glasgow Cathedral - at the heart of the city where the UN climate talks will take place in November - with contributions from Christians around the nations.

Join us online!  We'll be sharing music and inspirational videos from 3:30, and the service itself will begin at 4:00.  You, and your church, are warmly welcome.  Could you gather a group and watch together?

Register now to be sent the full details for joining at nationsclimatesunday.eventbrite.co.uk

Every blessing and many thanks,
