FEBRUARY NEWSLETTER

Check out what we've been up to this month

At NNJLS, we believe that Black history is American history. Our Executive Director, Jack Fitzgerald said it best, "although one month of the year is not enough to celebrate the history and accomplishments of African Americans, NNJLS recognizes the importance and need to acknowledge pivotal figures and historical moments that have helped to shape our country...".

Originally "Negro History Week", Black History Month was founded by African American scholar and historian Carter G. Woodson. After tireless efforts and persistence of Black educators, activists, and students at Kean State University in 1969, Black History Month as we know it was born! We invite you to take a moment and virtually tour the National Museum of African American History and Culture to learn more about such a paramount part of our history as Americans. Black Excellence in Legal Services

"In the last 35 years, LSC has proven to be one of our nation’s most effective agents for meaningful change. You empower Americans who are struggling to live with dignity, to keep their jobs, to stay in their homes and to secure basic necessities for their families. Quite simply, you change and improve lives."

The first Black attorney general of the United States, Eric Holder, praised Legal Services for their devotion to progress in 2010.
