Black History Our History America’s History February is Black History Month honoring African-American culture. Black History is a time to celebrate and honor Black Achievement in our American Culture. As an African-American woman, finding my voice and my identity has had many challenges in our society. However, what gives me hope and brighter days for a positive future are Black Americans, who paved the way for my freedom I have in today’s world. The year 2021, is an Empowerment Era. I have the opportunity to create my brand, make my dreams a reality, become successful in my chosen career, and serve my community by giving back to future generations to excel further than myself. |

This past week Kamala Harris became the first women and first Black women to ever hold the office of Vice-President and while shattering the glass ceiling in the process. With the ascent of Vice President Kamala Harris, why not use that moment as inspiration and take stock in ourselves. Here are a few questions to either get us on track or keep us on track: - How are our 2021 goals going so far?
- What resources do you need to make progress?
- What road blocks are in our way stopping us from being the best version of ourselves.

Once you get through that quick self-assessment identify some action steps to keep your momentum going: - Maybe now is a good time to sit down with your manager and talk about your career path.
- Perhaps there are certifications you can pursue that will give a boost to your career.
- If you are in school, maybe now is a good time to book a session with your counselor and take stock for your academic progress. Counselors are known to have access to a tremendous amount of resources that they can share.
No matter where you are on your journey it's always progress not perfection and the key is to keep moving. |
