BMEGG transitions to plant-based research

In response to lab shutdowns, the BMEGG is giving students the option to transition to plant-based research to complete their dissertation work. Students should select the seeds they'd like to plant and study, and submit their research proposals by May 1. More information can be found here.

Support BESA by ordering business cards or buying some BESA swag!

Business cards are available through Repro Graphics for interested students and post-docs. Standard cards are $28.55 for 500. Please contact our treasurer Caitlin for more info. Christal also has a variety of BESA items for purchase in her office, including some BESA pint glasses, the most recent BESA T-shirt, and a variety of older BESA T-shirts. You can find pictures of the shirts here!

BMEGG Research Symposium canceled/postponed

Due to the campus directives for Spring Quarter, the BMEGG Research Symposium (May 29, 2020) has been canceled. We are currently exploring the possibility of rescheduling the event for Fall 2020, and will update everyone if we are able to schedule this and start the planning process.

Northern California Biomaterials Day canceled

Given the growing concerns about COVID-19, the 2020 Northern California Biomaterials Day has been canceled. For updates, visit ucdavisbiomaterials.org.

Congratulations to Tomas Gonzalez-Fernandez on being chosen for the first class of fellows to attend the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings!

Tomas Gonzalez Fernandez, PhD, a postdoc in the Leach Lab, has been named one of the 20 fellows to attend the 2020 Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings! He says, “I am very excited about taking part in the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting this summer and representing the world class research developed at UC Davis. This is a great chance to feel inspired by the amazing discoveries made by Nobel Laureates and to meet other young researchers from around the world to discuss the current challenges and opportunities we all face.”
