Alliance Affiliated Ecologists and Climatologists Working Together on Regional Research Needs

 

One of the key components to the mission of the Climate Science Alliance – South Coast is to enhance regional collaboration, coordination, and engagement between climate research, natural resource management, and on-the-ground adaptation and mitigation efforts.  Science Focused Partnerships and Climate Smart Conservation groups participated in a brainstorming session to identify climate-related research needs for southern California.

Climate Kids at the Reuben

H. Fleet Sccience Center

 

Climate Kids was at the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center this summer for their Women Scientists in Action Camp. Dr. Julie Kalansky from California-Nevada Applications Program (CNAP) joined us to talk about drought, precipitation, and the study and protection of San Diego carnivores.

Resilient Coastlines Project of Greater San Diego

 

 

Check out the new website for the San Diego Coastal Resilience Project! This project is directed by the San Diego Regional Climate Collaborative in partnership with the Climate Science Alliance-South Coast and the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve.

Climate Communications Training Resources Now Available

 

The Alliance partnered with the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve and the Sea Life Aquarium at Legoland to provide a climate change communications training for local environmental educators. The Strategic Framing of Climate Change Conversations training was based on the framework and techniques developed as part of the National Network for Ocean and Climate Change Intepretation project (NNOCCI).

PARTNER SPOTLIGHT

San Diego Coastkeeper

 

San Diego Coastkeeper is partnering with our Climate Kids program to expand climate change messaging into the curriculum for Project Swell and Water Education for All. San Diego Coastkeeper staff will be in the classroom with us this year working with Climate Kids students at Pacific Beach Elementary, Vivian Banks Charter School-Pala Band of Mission Indians, Climate Kids-Mexico, and two new schools in North County--Jefferson Elementary and Carmel Del Mar.
