KEENE CITY COUNCIL MEETING TO OPPOSE THE NED PIPELINE

Thursday, April 21st, 7:00 PM, Keene City Hall (tonight!)

At the time of publication, this meeting is still planned for this evening. We encourage attendance. We want to seal the deal and make sure NED is DEAD! You may want to call the City Council this afternoon to confirm the meeting is still on, but again, the NED pipeline has been suspended, not withdrawn. The voices of Keene residents are particularly helpful, but all are encouraged to attend and show support.

WE STILL NEED TO...

- Bring New Hampshire up-to-speed with the rest of New England and prepare for the future so we are not vulnerable again.

- Fight for bills in the legislature to protect the state, clean air, water and the rural lifestyle we love!

- Strongly support and promote renewable energy so the NED pipeline, and other projects like, it do not come back to bite us in the future - and are not invited back!

- Promote renewable energy projects in our towns and across the state and region to buffer ourselves against climate change, pollution and the health and safety hazards associated with fossil fuels.

- Push for clean energy projects! Many towns are on their way to renewable energy. Let's keep engaged, aware, and energized with all our new knowledge of what happens when we don't look forward.

- Help our neighbors throughout New England who are still fighting pipelines.

- Fight to get the leaks in existing pipelines sealed!

- Take stock of elected officials who refused to oppose the NED pipeline or were fence sitters refusing to make decisions and boot them out of office!

- Promote and encourage vibrant, forward-thinking candidates with vision and their eye on the future of New Hampshire, New England, our country and our planet.

- Continue to build the great bipartisan networks we have built during the pipeline fight and work together to go fossil free!

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR OWN PAT MARTIN!

We are excited and pleased to announce that she has been accepted as a member of the working group for grid modernization through the Public Utilities Commission. This is great news. We're very excited for her! She has been an incredible asset in the fight against NED, frequently attending PUC meetings and gently working her magic. Thank you for your knowledge of energy issues and your dedication Pat! Onward!

PIPELINE SIGNS? May we suggest...

Keep those pipeline signs out and customize them! Add a banner strip that says, "Went Solar!", "Go Fossil Free 603!", "Ready for Renewables" or your own catchy phrase! Use them to let others know we've learned and we're ready for clean energy solutions!

THANK YOU BERNIE SANDERS

I want to thank Bernie Sanders, the only Presidential candidate to come out against the NED pipeline, to move for a ban on fracking, and to say we need to go to 100% renewable energy now. His campaign staff met with ECHO Action last summer, listened, and took action on our concerns. We were the first local pipeline he came out against (he was against KXL before NED). For this, and the national spotlight on our cause, I am so very grateful.

Pipelines are still planned for MA, VT, CT, NJ...and one within feet of a nuclear power plant in NY. It's our job to put them on notice - the fossil fuel era is over!
