Brookline High School buys 18 AP courses from the College Board, with 500 students paying to take nearly 1,000 exams each year—contributing to the private company’s $1.1 billion dollar revenue.

Critics argue that these test-driven classes favor shallow memorization, and contribute to the high levels of stress that our children experience in the competitive higher education race. And racial disparities continue to plague participation rates and scores—echoing the eugenics-era biases of the College Board’s creators.

Come hear Brookline teachers unpack the impact of the AP on students using academic, mental health, and equity lenses, and envision other ways Brookline High School could set our children up for college success.
