Have You Asked God for Your Personal Word for 2023?

January 2023

SCRIPTURE FOCUS: Ephesians 2:10 TPT

We have become His poetry, a re-created people that will fulfill the destiny He has given each of us, for we are joined to Jesus, the Anointed One. Even before we were born, God planned, in advance, our destiny and the good works we would do to fulfill it

January is one of my favorite months. I love seeking the Lord for His plans and setting my goals for the year ahead together with Him. I couldn’t wait to send out my newsletter full of New Year’s happenings and articles. But I turned around and the month was half over. Between a house full of visitors for a month and contracting Flu A (whatever Flu A is), to be honest it feels difficult to get my act together. I’m wiped right about now.

On a more joyful note, we had our 22nd grandchild born 1/11/23 at 11:15 A.M. to Glory (our baby) and John. Let me introduce you to their third son, Gallivan Cove Alund, 7 lbs. 10.5 ozs, 21” long––he’s absolutely beautiful! So grateful for yet another little baby that fits perfectly into our hearts. We already wonder how we did life without him.

I was blessed to be in the recovery room with them (she had her third cesarean) and had the joy of seeing this little man minutes after he was birthed. Both Mama and baby faired so well––the only one a touch out of sorts is big brother, Atlas James, 16 ½ months old. He’s great with his baby brother, but a tiny bit edgy with Mama!

So, this month I’m taking the liberty to just share a small part of what was planned for this newsletter and what’s taken place so far this year and hope that I’ll include some of this month’s treasures in February’s newsletter. Thanks for grace. You are so kind to extend it to me.

Have You Asked God for Your Personal Word for 2023?

Five years ago, I felt a prompting from the Lord. I could tell He had something to say to me.

Until that time, I never heard of receiving a specific, personal word from God for the year ahead, but in prayer I received a specific word. It was confirmed a few times, gently, but one day it

became a clear reality that Jesus had chosen this word for me to focus on and camp in throughout

the year.

Bobby and I were traveling down south for an extended stay. We were on a highway in

Virginia and as I looked up, I saw a huge billboard with the word given to me by the Lord a week

earlier. The word was trust. I love when God confirms what He’s already spoken.

This was the year I was called to begin to write, starting my blog, Cherishing Ordinary

Days. It was a huge leap of faith and step of obedience for me. The whole process took me way

out of my comfort zone and without Jesus making things clear, especially trusting Him in the

process, I would have retreated.

I remember my frequent visitor, limiting belief, whispering in my ear, “You don’t have

what it takes to write a blog, or anything for that matter. Who do you think you are? You don’t

even have a proper education for that.”

Though the words rattled me, I recognized the enemy of my soul was whole-heartedly

against me writing.

But the Lord had a plan and He brought me to deeper levels of trust in Him that year––a

pivotal year in my life I will always be grateful for. Read More...

I’d love to hear your story, and what word the Lord has spoken to your heart. Please

email me and let me know. Maybe grab a cup of something warm and take a minute to share

your story with me.

On this journey together,
