A Mina Communications Venture Created by Freelance Journalist & Consultant, Mina Rios A contributing writer with the Climate Reality Project, Bay Area Chapter April 2023 marks the launch of the MiNAPRESS Advocate, a new digital source for essential arts, culture, and climate news. Each component of the MiNAPRESS Advocate and all its content is purposefully chosen. As a trusted media source with local, national, and international print and digital media affiliations, readers can count on information being factual, thought-provoking, and informative. Following the Covid19 pandemic, challenging times have made it abundantly clear that escapism is a vital component in contending with modern day concerns. To this point, we stress the importance of regular engagement in arts and cultural experiences, as those shared in the MiNAPRESS Advocate. We also wish to impart the urgency of the climate crisis by presenting stimulating, under-reported content that motivates further action among households, businesses, and organizations. With this first issue, we hope you find it worth your while and worthy of your continued readership. |

There Will Be Dancing Underworld The Warfield, San Francisco April 21, 2023 at 8pm They are the quintessential underground music makers of the electronic music scene, distinct for integrating vocals, guitar, machine sound, and funk and blues music influences. The techno duo from the UK, Rick Smith and Karl Hyde of Underworld, have made good on their promise, to return to the Bay Area after the Covid19 pandemic forced the cancellation of their Warfield engagement originally slated for April 2020. Underworld headlines The Warfield on Friday, April 21, 2023. The single, "Born Slippy," from Danny Boyle's 1996 film "Trainspotting," with Ewan McGregor, helped catapult their popularity in the US. Years later, filmmaker Danny Boyle appointed the duo to produce the soundtrack for the opening ceremonies of the 2012 London Olympic Games. As with every Underworld performance, Friday night's show is expected to be a luminous spectacle of lights, mind-bending graphics, and transcendent music. Listen for Underworld's signature works: "Rez," "Cowgirl," "Dirty Epic," "King of Snake," and "Moaner." See you there! Review to follow. |

| | Time to Expand Your Music Repertoire __________________________ Record Store Day April 22, 2023 We celebrate Record Store Day to recognize the independent record stores that remain worldwide. Their continued existence is a vital part of every community. Within this unique gathering place where people discover new music, the cultural fabric of society florishes. Take a moment to consider what's missing from your music repertoire then add Record Store Day to your annual calendar. Better yet, make it a permanent part of your monthly or bi-monthly routine visiting the record store. Bear in mind, your patronage isn't just about supporting these small businesses, but keeping the in-person experience alive. Afterward, you have the gift of music in a tangible form that you can savor again and again and share with others. Mina recommends visiting Amoeba record store on Haight St. in SF on Record Store Day. | | |
