Twelve-plus years ago when I was first diagnosed with this condition I knew nothing of May Gray Brain Tumor Awareness Month. As I have managed my recovery journey, now five years post craniotomy, I have learned much more about May Gray and it is now really important to me. The "Gray" symbolizes the color often associated with brain tumors and we can all agree GRAY MATTERS!
During May, the emphasis lies on informing the public about the signs and symptoms of brain tumors, fostering early detection, providing support for patients and their families, advocating for research funding, and showcasing advancements in treatment options. This month our community shares awareness campaigns, fundraising events, and educational activities that is geared toward aiding those affected by this condition. We strive for better screening, and improved outcomes, for both current patients and future ones.
