Dear Seabird Parents,

For the month of March, our biggest theme will be welcoming spring. Some of the activities will include planting, projects with animals, rocks, sand, soil, water.

We will have a St. Patrick’s Day treasure hunt on Friday 3/17. We will make green clover cookies that day.

Extra clothes

It is that time of year to place new clothes that fit well and are weather suitable for your child in their spare clothes container. Upon bringing us new clothes, we will return the old sets.

Children who are in the process of potty training or those who are newly potty trained should have 2-3 sets of clothes on site.

If you recently placed new clothes in your child’s backpack, then there is no need to do so.

Happy Birthday

Jaxon, Henry

Positive Social Interaction

Early development experts state that social isolation related to the pandemic has caused a delay in some children’s social development. We continue to support this area with a positive environment, reiterating how to play in an engaging and respectful way, supporting and modeling behavior to promote a healthy social progression as children develop.

Parents play a very important role in a child's social emotional development. Parents are children’s first teachers and first relationship builders. Here are a few suggestions on how you can support your child’s social development.

  • Hug, cuddle, read, and talk with them throughout the day. Showing your affection will lead to your child being able to do the same for other

  • Let your child see your different emotions. This helps them to develop empathy for others.

  • Encourage your child to try new activities. Help them see what they are capable of. Praise their effort. This is especially important for children who are shy

  • Set up opportunities for your child to play with other children their age. Help them explore the outside world and get to know different types of people. Model behaviors you want them to learn like kindness, gentleness, respectfulness, etc. when interacting with other adults and children.

  • Creating a routine will give children a sense of control.

  • Always acknowledge your child’s feelings and that it is okay to have them. Help them talk about what and how they are feeling. Comfort your child when they are upset. Hold them and speak softly and calmly.

  • When addressing an unwanted behavior, be clear and concise and have a reasonable and logical consequence. Before a play date, this is a discussion that can be made if you know your child is working on a certain behavior you would like them to improve.
