Editor's note: Hi, Friend of Cocktails ! I want to begin with some great news: Sašo is back! This is great because I won't need to be as careful of getting the camera dirty by making cocktails and filming at the same time 😂. This is also a doubly special week, as we have just reached 90k subscribers on YouTube, bringing a big milestone into the horizon, so we want to thank you for being a part of that. |

Accompanying these great news, this week has also been filled with hard work, as we are preparing for Halloween and Movember 2022 (this year has flown by, hasn't it?). We are preparing some great things for each of these, so I recommend you stay tuned! With this important information out of the way, let's start. Cheers! |

Kevin Kos answers your questions Like almost every bartender in the world 🌎, I love to have a wide variety of glassware! From coupes and tumblers, to mixing glasses & more, they serve both an aesthetic and a functional purpose when making cocktails. Think of a drink served up - like a Martini for example 🍸 - if you want it to remain as cold as possible, you may want to pour it into a stemmed glass so that your hand won't warm it faster. It is also impossible to deny that a cocktail is so much sexier when served in a properly chosen glass! So with that said, I have 3 main sources for my glassware. A lot of what you see on the channel comes from Rogaška Crystal, a local company where I started to work as a kid as you may remember me mentioning in the 1 Year on YouTube episode 🎉. My mom and dad worked in this company for their entire lives (my mom still does), so I have to thank them for the passion for glassware they left in my DNA 🧬! Another good source for glassware are second-hand shops, where you can find some gems. This also goes with my principle of sustainability, reducing waste, and supporting the local community, so I go there often. Finally, some pieces are purchased from Slovenian distributors, but in a much smaller proportion. |

Clarifying Citrus Juice Milk clarification affects the flavor of the final product, so I recommend you go for Pectinex or Agar Agar instead. This way you will have the option to make a variation on any drink with the clarified juice, or add it to a milk punch if you do want to change the mouthfeel and taste of the cocktail. Get a precision scale! It is an inexpensive gadget that will give you more replicable results when using Pectinex or Agar Agar. Clarified juice isn't just the sexier version of regular juice, it also holds a lot more CO2 in carbonated cocktails!

Recommended Saturday watch! Picking out the tasting notes in your spirits and liqueurs can be a great starting point when making cocktails, as it gives you an idea of what flavors to pair or highlight in the final drink - just like when I made the Rum Old Fashioned with chocolate 🍫. Still, picking apart these flavors can be challenging at first, so in this recommended video, Rex & Daniel from the Whiskey Tribe will teach you some great techniques on how to describe the smell, taste and finish of any whiskey - but you'll be able to apply these to any of your other cocktail ingredients 🥃! Make sure to give it a watch, as there are great tips from beginner to advanced, that can take your cocktail-making to the next level. Cheers! |
