🆕 NEW Fall Clothing and Crew Jersey

A wise person once said, “there’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes.” Meaning if fall temps are scaring you away from biking, it may be in your best interest to come check out some of our recent cozy and warm arrivals. From riding pants to flannels, from lights to shoe covers, we have you covered in the coldest of temperatures. There’s no better time than now to upgrade your clothing arsenal to include equipment for the coming chillier days.

Some of our new shop swag and fall riding equipment:

We are also running a 30-50% off sale on select riding clothes!

🔧 Repair Turnaround Time

As many people move out of bike mode and hope to soon be in ski mode, now is a prime time to bring your bike in for maintenance because we have the shortest repair queue you’ll catch us with when there isn’t snow on the ground in town. The current turnaround for a basic tune is approximately 2-3 days. Walk-ins are welcomed, and appointments are appreciated. Please call 541-719-1213 to schedule.

Demand for bicycle parts is still relatively high, so please know that getting parts may take longer than usual.

👨‍🏫 SPRD Bike Maintenance Class

We will be hosting a bike maintenance class on 10/17 from 6-7:30 through SPRD. This is your opportunity to learn how to fix a flat tire and maintain your bike from the pros. Learn more and sign here.

🚴‍♂️ McKenzie Pass Status

McKenzie Pass is OPEN to cyclists and vehicles! Generally, the pass is rideable for cyclists until early to mid-November. If you ride, ride safely, and remember rider etiquette.

Oregon Timber Trail Alliance Update 🌄

Mark Shafer's fundraising ride for Ovarian Cancer

When asked why Mark decided to ride the Timber Trail:

“Sometimes we choose the paths we take in life, like riding the Oregon Timber Trail across Oregon. Sometimes life makes a choice for you like it did for my wife Kelly when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2016.

The reason I challenged myself to ride the Oregon Timber Trail is to raise awareness of ovarian cancer symptoms and fundraise for the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Oregon & SW Washington, where I’m also a board member. If just a few people find my adventure interesting and take a minute to better understand the symptoms of ovarian cancer then someone in their circle of friends might avoid a late-stage diagnosis of ovarian cancer.”

Sisters Trail Alliance October Update 🌲

The new STA signage roll out on the trails has begun. As many of you may have seen, our trail adopters are working their way through our extensive trail network, cleaning up old signs, removing excessive “trail pollution” and placing new directional signs where needed. This process will take a few more weeks and more trail signage updates will be ongoing.

Building Sustainable Trails… with our hearts and our hands!

When you come to an STA Work Party, you can immediately feel the energy of the group. There’s tremendous passion and excitement, and a feeling of getting things done. The list of work accomplished this summer is too much to add up, but we can assure you, whether you are hiking the new Whychus Creek - PRT Tie Trail or are riding the freshly brushed Green Ridge Trail, you will see (and feel) the work.

Central Oregon Trail Alliance October Update ⛏

From COTA Trail News - October:

COTA has been the primary nonprofit that builds and maintains singletrack trails in Central Oregon since 1992. During our history, COTA volunteers have logged tens of thousands of hours of volunteer time, including 13,750 hours in 2021 alone. Currently, COTA maintains over 500 miles of trails throughout Central Oregon. It takes both financial and labor resources for us to succeed!

We will be hosting a series of events from October 14-16th, 2022 to celebrate:

Find the full event details, and sign up on Meetup!

New Trails at Bandit Springs!

COTA volunteers and staff have been hard at work building 5 miles of new trails at Bandit Springs this year. COTA completed the 3-mile Ochoco Way trail and started work on the McGinnis and Easy trails. Thanks to favorable weather conditions, we’re still building and we’ll keep at it until the snow flies.

Bandit Springs is a network of winter cross-country ski trails in the Ochoco National Forest that the Forest Service recently approved as summer trails as well. Ultimately there will be 12 miles of trails and forest roads primarily for beginner to intermediate bikers and hikers. The trails go through some beautiful forest - go check them out!

Proving Grounds Recap 📍

As promised in our last Roundup, here is a recap video from last month's Proving Grounds event held in Prineville. This event was insane and brought many of the world's best slopestyle and freeride riders to our backyard.

The winners of this event earned a spot in the coveted upcoming Redbull Rampage on October 21st. You should try and tune into this event—it's not called the Super Bowl of Mountain Biking for nothing! Tune in here.

October's Must-Watch 📺

For this month's must-watch we wanted to highlight a fun video produced by Shimano a few years back about up-and-coming rider Jackson Goldstone. Jackson grew up on a bike (we attached his first famous biking video from when he was four below) and now at 18 years old, is winning some of the biggest events in downhill mountain biking, such as Redbull Hardline. This young man is likely to take mountain biking to the next level.

We hope this month’s Roundup brought some value, and maybe you’ll be in attendance at one of the above events or swinging by the shop to check out some of our fall clothing and screaming deals right now.

Central Oregon riding is all-time right now! Enjoy it before it’s too late.

See you soon,
