Integrative Health and Wellness Assessment (IHWA) As a Masters’ prepared Holistic Nurse and board-certified Nurse Coach, my goal is to help facilitate total body healing by partnering with clients through a process of change or development that enables individuals to realize their potential. Change evolves from within and as a Nurse Coach, I assist clients in identifying priorities and areas for change. One tool that is used with coaching clients is called the Integrative Health and Wellness Assessment (IHWA). This was designed by Holistic Nurses’ Drs. Barbara Dossey, Susan Luck, and Bonney Gulino Schaub to help you become aware of your human potential. Healing is more likely to occur when you attend to your life balance and satisfaction, which is the foundation of the IHWA model. This survey will evaluate your wellness in the following categories: life balance and satisfaction; relationships; spiritual; mental; emotional; physical; environmental; and health responsibility. Changing health behaviors is difficult and often requires a long-term commitment and coaching. Take some time to complete the assessment, answer from your heart, and consider how nurse coaching could play a role in helping you achieve your health and wellness goals. -Maria Alberts, MSN, RN, NC-BC |

Remember to eat nutritious food and keep active during your cancer journey and into survivorship. Gentle to moderate exercise supports the physical body by reducing inflammation and providing your body with mood-boosting happy hormones that can support you emotionally and aid the healing process. Eating well can taste good and feel good, as incorporating whole, unprocessed foods into your diet gives your body and your mind needed nourishment and sustenance. See our blog on 5 Foods That Fight Cancer. |

Prepare and assemble all ingredients. 2. Mix together the vinegars and the mustard. 3. Add in the oil and the sweetening agent (maple syrup or honey). 4. Shake well. 5. Add salt and pepper to taste. Salad Directions: 1. Prepare and assemble all ingredients. 2. Using avocado oil, grill the slices of peach to preferred cook. 3. Mix together all ingredients. 4. Add dressing to taste. This salad would also be perfect with grilled shrimp, salmon, chicken, or—my personal favorite—grilled cod. Enjoy! |
