A brief word from your Captain.

Dear Grey School Apprenticeship, 
First and foremost, thank you for instilling in me the trust and duties of Captain. 

It is an honor and a privilege to serve you in this manner.  This past week has been a whirlwind of activity.

We have 3 of the 4 Moot Dates tentatively, and are actively working to decorate the vGSW Lodges. 

April is going  to be very exciting because of the Open Leadership Meetings. Keep an eye out on the calendar found in the Handbook for updated times for events and stay tuned to the Forums, Facebook, and Discord. 

 We'll be hosting an Open Leadership Meeting on Sunday April 17th at 5pm PDT at the Assemblia just outside the wortcunning department on vGSW.  Because of our diverse Apprenticeship, I will also be recording and simulcast streaming on the GSW Discord Server.   Once it has finished, if people wish to offer feedback, there will be an Open Forum Post in the General Discussion Section of the Forums to bounce your ideas and feedback with your Apprentice Leadership. 

So Come Out, Participate, and be Engaged!

Hello Waters Lodge,
here is your April 2022 newsletter.

Welcome to a new term, and with that, allow me to introduce myself as your new Prefect, Steven Morningstar.

I first came to GSW in July 2021 and have recently been graduated to level two. This shift to a new prefect embodies part of our motto in Waters Lodge, to embrace transformation and be change makers. I look forward to serving our lodge and doing what I can to make your experience as enriching as possible.

  A bit about me, prior to the Grey School, I bring 20+ years of experience with various magical paths and models. I started in Wicca, and then shifted to Fertility-based Witchcraft for the first decade of my practice. In the past decade, I took apprenticeships in Shamanism and Ceremonial Magick. I eventually found my way to studies in Traditional Witchcraft and Sabbatic Witchcraft and found my niche in a hybrid of the two. I’ve gained quite a bit from my time with Grey School as it offers areas of study such as Dark Arts and Ceremonial Magick, which are of deep personal interest. If I can be of any help with your learning, know that my inbox is open to you.

I hope our March Piscean members had excellent birthday’s and that our newest Waters apprentices in the past few months are finding what they need. I will endeavor to give a welcome by name to any new apprentice that joins the student body from the month prior to the newsletter. 

Please be sure to find the birthday post in our lodge forum and add your birthday to the list so that I can extend greetings when the time arrives!

Upcoming Events for April include the regular Meet’n’Greet, with hosting by Waters Lodge on 20th April on the virtual campus. Looking ahead, Waters Lodge will be hosting a Moot in May 2022 on the virtual Grey School campus on Second Life. We’re looking for submissions for presentations and possibly volunteers as needs arise. Please reach out to me with your ideas so that planning can get underway. More to come in the May newsletter and on the Waters forum as the event draws closer.

Aside from messaging me with questions, please do seek out your fellow apprentices for help and most certainly spend some time looking at the Forums for any information you seek. Many questions can be answered there and it’s intuitive to follow.

The Order of the
Dancing Flames

Greetings Flames!  

This month we charge into Spring and the second half of Aries season. As we begin to warm up our lives become busier.

Spring signals new beginnings as the Earth quickly thaws from it's dormancy in the Northern Hemisphere. We are called to garden, play outside, read books in the hammock, and sit around bonfires over grilled food and chilled drinks sprouting conversations pent up through the long winter. Springtime motivates us to carry out our desires planted as seeds in our winter daydreams.

   For some of us, this Aries season means celebrating birthdays and completing another rotation around the sun. Happy birthday to our April Aries! May your days be bright and your fires of motivation be ever fueled! You are all carrying out great work!   

Throughout this month I look forward to seeing you all bloom into Spring. Please take some time to drop by the forums to share an update of what your stretch goals are for the term in the Spring Term Roll Call and what your short term goals are for the month in the April Roll Call thread. Then, as you meet your goals, post your finished classes and final grades in the Spring Term Course Completions thread. Don't forget the Extended April Newsletter thread for bonus content!  

Finally, let yourself be known in our Flames Lodge in vGSW, Facebook, the forums, as well as our monthly Meet and Greet on Discord, April 13th. You have a voice and we want to hear it!

Salutations everyone,
My name is Prefect Skywalker, current Prefect of the Winds Lodge.

First, shout-out time!
Please give a warm welcome to Apprentice Jason Webster and a hearty  congratulations to Apprentice Aquarius Fox for 100% Final Exam scores in the month of March as well as Apprentices Cosmo Rubiconis and Apprentice Minerva for the March Merit Challenge completion.

Apprentice Minerva  has created a wonderful YouTube Video as a presentation for the “Antaar Naad Mudra”. So well done Apprentice Minerva, and you can view the video here.

Lastly, I would like to give a HUGE shout-out to Apprentice Macanrothaic for his work and efforts as the Winds Prefect last term. His work was Masterful! Well done Mac!

Now for announcements: It’s time for the Prefects to decorate the Lodges on Second Life. What is it that YOU would like to see in our Lodge on our Second Life Campus? Please let me know right here

Last time I served, I left a few of my ambitions unfulfilled. One of which being utilizing the Winds Lodge YouTube Channel. I will be uploading a lot of content on there, so be sure to check it out if you have the time!

Welcome to the Stones Lodge!

We greet the Aries season which brings change and abundance. 
It is recommended to ground ourselves and let Mother Earth's abundance strike us. Use this month to reconnect with the outer world, hugging trees, contemplating flowers and insects.

Let's focus ourselves on nature and how to give more to the Earth and the abundance that is surrounding us.

On the 16th the new moon will be a Pink Moon, we'll release negative thoughts to allow love to have more space in our lives. April 30th the full moon in Taurus and this will represent a significant event because of a black Moon with a Partial Solar Eclipse (10:42 pm EST) so keep an eye out, Wizards! This phenomenon invites us to clarity and propels ourselves.

A message from your
Vice-Captain
 

I am extremely excited to start this new term with you!

April brings all sorts of wonderful new energies to work with - most notably, the fiery energy of Aries - making it the perfect time to set some new intentions into motion. Aries is in-charge and action-oriented, with lots of creativity and vision to boot!

There’s also a fearlessness to it, so don’t be surprised to find yourself leaning into challenges that might normally feel overwhelming. 

In fact, there’s a Jupiter-Neptune conjunction in Pisces on the 12th that is a serious stage-setter; this is the time to dream BIG and push the envelope! And I think you’ll see that push from your Leadership Scabbard as well…We’ve also got four Moots coming your way - the Waters Celebration is just around the corner! - and there’s LOTS of opportunities to connect with each other and expand your practice, whatever that may be.

Speaking of expanding your practice, we’ve got plenty of new challenges to dig into, including one from me, as well as a term-long challenge inspired by your Prefects.

 I look forward to working with you in the coming months as we tackle this new term.
