New WSSRA Leaders - Elected and Appointed

  • Denise Perkins will represent District E-6 as our member on the State Executive Board.

  • Terry Sloan will represent E-6 on the State Legislative Committee.

  • Vinnie Lee will be the E-6 representative on the State Membership Committee. She and Deb Lacy will work with our local committee of JoAnn Lewis and Sharon Salley to recruit new members.

Thank you for representing us!

WSSRA Update

The Select Committee on Pension Policy has passed an official recommendation to the Washington State Legislature regarding a TRS 1 and PERS 1 COLA for 2023. The legislation recommends the following:

  • Instruct the Office of the State Actuary to study the possibility of tying the Plan 1 unfunded liability payoff to reinstituting a TRS 1 and PERS 1 permanent COLA. The recommended study would take place during the 2023-2025 biennium.

  • A 3% Plan 1 COLA up to $110 per month starting July 1, 2023. We all realize that a 3% COLA will not be enough as inflation is running at 8+%, but the JCPP would not support a higher rate due to the fiscal implications of the other DRS groups asking for a match.

  • The WSSRA Legislative Team will be working on other legislative issues such as enhancing plans 2 and 3 and protecting our medical benefits to prepare for the 2023 State Legislative session on January 9th.
