Automated evaluation for rapid implementation of knowledge-based radiotherapy planning models
Dr. Mann compares a novel automated Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) planning solution, called Stereotactic Optimized Automated Radiotherapy (SOAR), with the commercial solution HyperArc for multi-metastatic SRS. SOAR utilizes collision prediction, beam angle optimization, and dose optimization to create individualized high-quality SRS plans, while HyperArc employs a template-based strategy. SOAR demonstrated higher conformity and gradient indices, statistically significant improvements in doses to organs-at-risk, and lower complexity metrics compared to HyperArc. The study concludes that in-house developed automated planning solutions like SOAR offer a viable alternative to commercial solutions, providing high-quality, patient-specific SRS plans with greater versatility.
