David Suzuki Foundation Counters “Natural” Gas, LNG Greenwashing in Advertising Campaign |
|
|
“Natural gas” is a deliberately misleading marketing term used by the oil and gas industry. The vast majority of gas produced in British Columbia is fracked. Fracking is a dangerous process that uses millions of gallons of water and toxic chemicals, and the upstream and downstream emissions of fracked gas are massive — far from “natural.” Big oil and gas companies have spent millions in Canada and billions globally lobbying politicians and flooding the public conversation with misleading advertising about fossil fuels, including fracked (“natural”) gas and LNG. The fossil fuel industry has made more than $3 billion in profit every day for the past 50 years, totaling $52 trillion+. See the ads here and read more here |
