Happy July Friends!

Summer is officially here. Tennessee summer is just plain hot & humid which means from the chickens to the cows we have to be very watchful. The #1 concern is heat stress so we add a few key things to our daily routines to help prevent that.

Here are a few thing we do to prevent heat stress:

  1. Make sure everyone has plenty of clean water

  2. Provide adequate shade

  3. For our chickens & ducks we like to give cold treats, such as watermelon or a frozen treat block to help them stay hydrated.

  4. We spray the cows with cool water to help keep their temperatures at a normal level.

  5. Move evening feeding times back. Allowing them to stay in the shade longer and it's typically cooler if you feed closer to dusk.

It's important to keep yourself safe in this summer heat too so don't forget to take breaks and stay hydrated!

FAVORITE THINGS

  1. I shared this book in my Instagram stories this week and I have to share it again. The concept of using prayer and breathing exercises together is truly amazing! Click here to check it out.

  1. If you have a dog or cat that sheds like a storm when summer hits, you NEED this vacuum. I was sweeping up every few hours before we got this amazing pet grooming vacuum. It even has a clipper attachment, if you need to do a trim and doggy haircut!

  1. I love a comfy outdoor chair and these Zero-Gravity lounge chairs have been our favorite place to relax after farm chores. The chickens seem to love them just as much as we do!

  1. This one may seem a little odd, but I am seriously in love with this. I use OxyClean and Scent Beads with most of our laundry and I found this amazing dispenser for both!

  1. One of my favorites things to do in the evening is watch our animals graze. There is something so calming about it. This is my favorite time to pray and thank God for all he has done in our lives.

Verse for the Month

"Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful."
