FEBRUARY/MARCH NEWSLETTER

Training is back in full swing. Training is on Thursday nights at Riverway. Times 5.45pm for a 6pm start, finishing 7-730 pm.  See our Facebook page each week for any updates or changes.

To umpire, you also need to be registered with AFLQ. If you have not already done so, please register ASAP. Unfortunately, you cannot be appointed to games if you are not registered!

OUT AND ABOUT IN THE COMMUNITY

The Association recently attended 2 expos in an effort to recruit more umpires ! We attended both the Get Active Expo and the Defence Expo which welcomes new Defence families' posting into Townsville.

Thank you to all the volunteers that turned out on the days to help out! The committee appreciates the support.

And then there is our musical umpire. Great to see Ben out there playing his horn and having a boogie as part of the Defence Expo!

Blue Card (Children and Young Persons Card)

If you are new to umpiring this year in Townsville and are over 18, you will need a Queensland Government Blue card. This is mandatory, and you cannot actually be appointed to games if you do not have a current card. So if you do not yet have one or have not applied, you will need to do it as soon as possible to have your card for season start. You can apply online here

If you are entitled to an exemption, you still need to apply as you will be given an exemption number and expiry date.

Your card then needs to be linked to AFLQ and if you are a financial member, to AFLTUA as well. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact the Secretary on afltuaumpires@yahoo.com.au
