I happened to be on the last United flight out of Paducah. Contour airlines, who would be taking over service the following day, was busy changing signs, hanging banners, and planning for their debut. The soon-to-be outgoing airport staff had a potluck set up in the concession area to mark the occasion. Once the plane was boarded and the jet door closed, they gathered on the tarmac to witness the final departure. I snapped the picture above as we taxied toward the runway.
Farewell, Paducah. It was a slice of holiday heaven,
