Following Beauty Dearest Holy Comforter Family, Life at Holy Comforter continues to evolve and change. We’ve had folks like Jean Murray make brave, difficult moves to be closer to family for when the time comes that they need more care than before. We have welcomed several members of All Saints and look forward to having them become increasingly active and involved in life here at HC. We’ve had quite a few visitors over the past few weeks who have been a blessing to us—and of course the online part of our community is also such a gift for us. Thank you! As much as our days get filled, I wonder if God gives us summer to dazzle us with the beauty of creation. Yesterday our entrance hymn was “All Things Bright and Beautiful” – light, lovely and full of such joy. How can you not be tickled by a stanza that says, Each little flower that opens Each little bird that sings He made their glowing colors And made their tiny wings There is another kind of beauty that isn’t always neat and tidy and still has the power to change us: Change how we see the world, make our hearts softer and more open, call us deeper into God’s love and service. Here are some ways I’ve seen that work around us: projects people step up and offer to do with no prompting that meet our needs at Holy Comforter. Lyn Frazer is doing some archival work for us that makes sure we don’t loose priceless records and stories of our past. Rodney Hamilton was a member at Holy Comforter for a few years and when he heard of Randy’s death, reached out to offer us help with playing the organ on Sundays—he will be our guest organist/choir director on June 16th! The folks who take turns saying Compline at the end of the day on Mondays (at 7 pm, live via Facebook), were hosted for dinner by Michael Paul, which gave them an opportunity for fellowship and to plan for the months ahead. Last night (6/3), it also meant that young master Patrick Gidiere attended, though I understand he slept through it all! There’s quite a bit going on as we prepare to receive the All Saints memorial garden and there are willing hands and hearts eager to help ensure we get the work done at the same time that we keep our costs down. I know this is the tip of the iceberg and I am grateful for all the ways grace is offered by so many. Where are you finding beauty these days? Take a picture or write a brief description and tell us why it fills you with joy. Send it to me (rosa@holycomfortermgm.org) or Missy (hcepiscopal.media@gmail.com). We’ll include your offerings in our next newsletter Be still. Allow what is good and lovely, bright and beautiful, wise and wonderful, to hold you up in the same way the water of a pool, or lake, or ocean holds us as we float in it on a hot summer day. Breathe in God’s grace. Even if it is just once this week! Rosa+ PS With so much changing and lots of new faces, please use nametags. It’s one way we can extend hospitality and open our doors wider… |

THIS SUNDAY Special Guest Accompanist & Choir Director Dr. Kris Sanchack will lead our choir rehearsal tomorrow and on Sunday, he will be the accompanist for our regular Sunday Eucharist. I am grateful and excited for his presence with us! Kris is candidate to fill the position of Accompanist/Choir Director at Holy Comforter. For several weeks, he and I have explored what having him come on board at Holy Comforter might look like. Mary Lois Monroe and he have also been in lively conversation. The choir will have a chance to experience working with him to prepare for worship and on Sunday, all of us will get a glimpse of his gifts as a musician and leader. I will get feedback from the choir after the rehearsal and look forward to receiving your feedback on Sunday as well. I expect to make final decision very soon after that. In the meantime, I hope you will take time on Sunday to greet Kris and his husband, Ken! |

Welcoming All Saints On May 19th, Bishop Glenda celebrated the final Eucharist at All Saints on Coliseum Blvd. Roger Brewer, Jeri Tippit and I were there and I hope our presence provided a small reminder that they are not walking alone! I was struck again by the strength and faith it takes to make a sorrowful decision such as the good people of our sister parish made. On the past two Sunday’s, I have been grateful for the presence of several people from All Saints who have begun attending our Sunday worship. We will have a sheet in the Narthex this coming Sunday and I will ask members of All Saints to make sure to use it to give us their contact information so we are sure to include them in all our communications. |

With all we’ve been through since last year, hosting one of our quarterly town halls has been more than we could manage. Now, we are in a different place and ready to take a few minutes before the dismissal so the vestry can give a very brief update on our financial picture, major actions and decisions made this year, and most important take your questions and feedback. Please plan to be with us that Sunday! |

from the family of Randy Paul Foster The family of Randy Paul Foster is grateful to God for his life, for your prayers, support, love and for your kind expressions of sympathy. We express our deepest gratitude to so many who helped make Randy's celebration of life service and reception possible. It is greatly appreciated and will always be remembered. The eulogy and music was very touching as we remember the laughter, love and joy Randy brought into out lives, may his memory continue to inspire and uplift us as we navigate this world without him. Together we can honor his legacy and cherish the moments we shared. Betty Foster, Shirley, and Sonny Wills |
