Thanks to all who were able to attend out full network meeting on June 14th. It was great to see some familiar faces as well as so many new faces! We hope to continue to see you all moving forward. At this month's meeting we had the pleasure of being joined by Rochelle Jackson and Bryn Young of Black Women’s Policy Center, Inc., who discussed their work understanding and lifting up Black women's experiences and priorities, and by Cheryl Stephens of Pittsburghers for Public Transit, who gave some insight into upcoming bus service cuts and other transit-justice issues. Notes from the event and resources shared can be found by clicking the button below. |

EJGP's Cross-Community Network |
July 12, 2022 6-7pm ET Zoom opens @ 5:45pm |
The Cross-Community Network is a network of community groups, community-based organizations, and residents who want transformational, people-centered change in their communities and across the Greater Pittsburgh region. In our first ever meeting we had representation from various neighborhoods across Allegheny County, including Dormont, Lincoln-Lemington, Duquesne, Sto-Rocks, East Liberty, Oakdale, North Braddock, and Wilkinsburg. We’d love to see this network grow and to learn how to better support and serve more neighborhoods! |

Platform for an Equitable and Just Greater Pittsburgh |
In light of the rebranding of Port Authority and some of the findings shared by the Black Women's Policy Center during our network meeting we’d like to uplift the following items from the EJGP Platform: Transportation 3.4: Structure fares to make transit affordable for everyone, including discounts or free passes for people with low incomes, seniors, students, and kids. Health 2.2: Improve public health and quality of life for over-burdened and under-resourced populations. |
The Get the Lead Out campaign has been working with City of Pittsburgh Council people and their offices to build out the Pittsburgh Lead Safety Law. The new law is anticipated to have a May 2022 rollout. We’ll follow up with more details about implementation when they become available. For more information or if you’d like to get involved, please contact info@gettheleadout.org. |

The Fair Fares for a Full Recovery Coalition is developing a proposal for how a Fair Fares program for lower income riders might operate. They are taking into consideration the feedback that they’ve received from bus riders and bus drivers about opportunities and concerns about such a program. They welcome more input and involvement from others! If you would like to join the bi-weekly planning meetings or learn more about the campaign, contact Sam Applefield at sam@pittsburghfoodpolicy.org |

Our Water Rally & Resource Fair |
The Our Water Campaign will be hosting a rally and resource fair on Friday June 24th from 5-7pm at Westinghouse Park. This event will mark the launch of the Water for all Campaign, an effort spearheaded by the Our Water Campaign partners to ensure that all people in our city have access to water regardless of their financial situation. “We want to gather people together to speak to the importance of water as a right so that all people are empowered to demand their basic rights. Alongside water assistance we will also have organizations tabling to connect folks with other useful resources related to lead abatement, landownership and food access. Additionally, we will be collecting signatures on a petition demanding a universal utility assistance application so that receiving assistance is not a full time job for our communities.” |
