one grain of truth

I sent my son back to college a few days ago. Just yesterday (it seems) he toddled around smiling and laughing. I've loved watching him turn into an adult with his own interests and goals.

One of those interests for quite a few years now has been photography. I took this one pursuit and used it in my upcoming novel Portrait of Deception.

The main character, Margo McAllister, is a renown photographer. I love taking photos, as you can probably tell from these newsletters, but I took photography beyond my pictures and my son's passion to build out this character.

While this main character is not at all like my son or me (although she has a little of my stubbornness), I love starting a novel from that one grain of truth.

Happy Travels: Morningside Park, New York City

Most of my life I've complained about cold weather. Now I'm starting to love traveling to wintery places that many prefer to visit in the summer. Things are less crowded and you're more likley to run into locals than tourists. I've also finally learned to dress properly.

What is your favorite winter destination?
