MEMBER PROFILE TERRY INGRAM I first started playing tennis at around the age of 11 or 12 at the original Melville Tennis Club on Canning Hwy in the 1950s with Arthur Marshall. Over the years working in country towns, I continued playing and even won a few competitions in Narrogin and Wongan Hills. After being a member at Bullcreek Tennis Club for several years, I joined HPTC so I could play on grass, and that’s where I met the boys and became a part of what’s known today as the Hensman Men’s Shed Social Tennis gang. They are a friendly and supportive bunch of guys and I enjoy the camaraderie - a great feature of HPTC! Everyone looks out for each other and we try to make all feel welcome. The highlight for me playing tennis is the exhilaration I feel when my feet actually tread on that beautiful grass. The feeling lasts if I am having a good day but diminishes quickly if my game is off! My favourite tennis player on the world scene is Roger Federer. Cool, calm and deadly - everything I am not! It'll be a long time before anyone greater than Roger comes on the scene. In my view he's the consummate tennis champion. I was married in January 1965 in Attadale and had two fantastic daughters - Karyn and Susan. I spent 38 years travelling around reginal WA working in the banking sector, and also managed a stint in Fiji before retiring in 1998. I was remarried in 1993 to Linley and gained 3 more children – Danielle, Michael and Paul, and have amassed a wonderful 8 grandkids and 4 great grandkids. My gorgeous Bella is the last member of the family, our miniature labradoodle who loves to come to tennis on Wednesdays! |
