Summer... If I could sum it up in just one word, it would be "Memorable." We laughed, we cried & we fought. Just being real here! We spent the first part of the month getting ready for the Iowa State Fair. Then, we spent the next part of the month actually at the Iowa State Fair. In the 11 days of the fair, 1,133,958 people passed thru the gates...that is INSANE! I swear, majority of them stopped by where the pigs were stalled because we were right across from the Big Boar.
While at the Iowa State Fair, Wade and I managed a delicate balancing act of getting both kids & livestock at the right place & at the right time. We did more than just survive, we created so many memories that I hope our kids will remember. I hope they remember how much time we spent with them.
We came home from state fair & had a whole week off. The kids caught up on some sleep, organized their bedrooms & I closed up the camper for the season. I washed all the bedding & surfaces and made sure to put it all back into totes & back into the camper. I know next year, I will be thanking myself that I took all the time to do it. The kids have asked when we can go camping...and I have told them next county fair!
School started last week...and my kids are not happy about it. The both are struggling to get back into the groove. I honestly can't blame them, they truly love staying home & helping with the dogs & livestock. Sydney is playing volleyball in junior high and that is adding just one more thing to our lives. As of now, she is enjoying it & we look forward to watching her play.
We are ready for the end of September to get here as we are patiently waiting for puppies to arrive. It seems really odd to not have any puppies right now! So until then, we will get the sleep we need & get things ready for the new arrivals.
