All information regarding class dates and times can be found at the links above. General rules for Livestock classes can be found online as well. Reminder - if a member has registered for a show or class and they have since decided that they will not be attending please let the 4-H Office know ASAP.
Home Economic & Life Skill Projects (aka. Non-Livestock Projects)
If a member would like to submit a tangible project to be included in the 4-H display at the Exhibitions mentioned above it must be dropped off to the Provincial Office by July 27th or to the Fair Grounds. 4-H PEI has something called the "Exhibition Circuit" in the summer. This term describes the "circuit" that 4-H projects follow throughout the summer. Projects can be dropped off at the Provincial 4-H Office, Crapaud or Alberton to begin (see Upcoming Dates). From there they travel to Old Home Week, Dundas and finish off in Evangeline.
At each Exhibition the projects are set up and judged. Note - project items that are too big, food items and cake decorating must be dropped off and picked up at the appropriate times (see links above for individual Fair info). Members who place 1st - 5th will be awarded prize money. At the end of the summer project items will be returned to members. We take pride in displaying 4-H members' work! If you are unsure what project item you are permitted to send - visit this link.
Attention Rabbit members who have registered to show at Crapaud Exhibition - the class time has changed! The class will now begin at 12:30pm.
ClubReports & Regional Newsare now being shared to our Provincial Facebook page as they are submitted to the 4-H Specialists. You can view these at the links below - it is not necessary to have a Facebook account to view these links.
July 23rd is the deadline for Club Achievement Days and for members who may have missed their Club event and would like to receive credit for completing the 4-H year. Members should speak to their Specialist in advance to make arrangements. Don't leave this until the last minute!
Club Year End Form
As a pilot project for the 2021-22 4-H year we are asking Overall Leaders, or a leader/senior member chosen by the Club, to fill out a new form following the Club's Achievement Day.
This information collected on this form will be used for the following purposes:
1. The Specialist will combine your answers to serve as a Club Report for the Region's AGM Book
2. The Community Service activity will be entered in the running for the Brookville Lime Community Service Club Award
3. The Agriculture Awareness activity will be entered in the running for the PEI Women's Institute Agriculture Awareness Activity Club Award
While many Clubs are just wrapping up the current 4-H year reorganization for the 2022-2023 year is just around the corner. We've added a PDF poster to the website that you can easily download, print and fill in your Club information. If you need our help with printing reach out to the Provincial Office!
Our Summer Student, Lesley Evison, has been settled at the office for a few weeks now and she is the perfect fit! Lesley will also be kicking around the Fairs and will be overseeing the Summer Social Activities!
We are excited to introduce you to our newest staff member, LoriKirkpatrick - Provincial Program Manager. You will see Lori at each of the Exhibitions this summer, so be sure to stop by and introduce yourself. Lori has lots of fun activities planned for the Fairs! She will also be overseeing Provincial Projects offered in the coming year.
Lori lives just outside of Milton and enjoys the farm life. She owns and operates with her family MapleRidge Equestrian and enjoys the lifestyle this offers. When not working on the farm and at her ‘real job’ she attends University of Guelph online in the Equine Science program.
Reminder that during the summer staff often take vacation time, work offsite or varied hours. Please be sure to contact staff in advance if you need to meet in person or drop off an item.
