Last month, I wrote:
Despite words of warning from well-meaning folks who can't believe anyone would want to go into teaching right now, especially in a middle school, I'm over-the-moon excited. As with any transition, there is anxiety. But I know it's the right move, because I'm finally doing what Zahra works diligently to master—I'm taking deep breaths and listening to my heart.
My heart is overjoyed!
And while my heart is still overjoyed, and I absolutely love my new job and all the amazing students I have the honor and privilege of teaching, I have never gone to bed so utterly drained and worn out—in a good way, of course!
PS: In the photo at the top of the newsletter, I'm posing with author-illustrator Ashley Belote (right). I bought two copies of her newly released book, Listen Up, Louella, so I could send a copy to my great niece and great nephew. They have to share, though, because I kept one copy for me!
