Originally trained as an architect, Mexico City based artist Pedro Reyes employs a varied creative practice to address social and political issues. Reclining Figure is an elegant charcoal rendering of a woman depicted in simple outline. Reyes noted, “This drawing features a reclining figure. She is lying horizontally as Chacmools [a traditional form of Pre-Columbian sculpture] do, with her legs and arms creating virtual triangles of grace and stability. This drawing is a pleasure especially when it comes to the human figure.”
