Catalogue Note
Over the past twenty years, Puerto Rico-based artists Jennifer Allora and Guillermo Calzadilla have developed an expansive, experimental, and research-based body of work encompassing sculpture, performance, video, sound, and photography. Contract (UXO-16-2) refers to sites in Vieques, Puerto Rico in which palm trees were used as markers by the U.S. Military to designate sites of hazardous waste disposal. This luminous silkscreen paradoxically combines beautiful landscape imagery with the treacherous conditions associated with these sites.

A portion of proceeds will benefit the artist. For inquiries or to place a phone or absentee bid, please email bid@thecontemporaryaustin.org .
