Summer is a great time for teens, tweens, and young adults to hit the pause button. Why summer?
Summer is ideal because teens have the opportunity and emotional ease to take on the task. It is a time when they step away from the demands of the school year- academics, extracurriculars, and social drama. The challenge is many teens lack the skills, tools, and the ability to reflect, challenge, and rethink possibilities.
It can be a daunting task. Where do they start? Here are some guidelines to help your teen push the pause button this summer. Suggest your teen -
Take some time to check in with each area of their life and reflect on what is working and what they would like to change. (See this month's Teen Tool.)
Identify one action step for each change they would like to make and have them practice that over the summer.
Revisit the Inventory at the end of the summer and reflect on positive changes and areas for improvement.
Still stuck on where to begin? Sometimes the steps to change seem simple, but they are not easy. Reach out to learn more about how 1-on-1 coaching can help your tween, teen, or young adult use this summer to push the pause button and make positive changes in all areas of their lives.
