What is Grounding?
Grounding means letting go of unwanted mental or physical tension in the body: old stories or beliefs that do not serve us, negative self-talk, other-peoples' "stuff" that we may un-knowingly allow to negatively affect us, daily frustrations, old traumas, emotional or physical pains, or anything that we no longer want to carry. This un-necessary "baggage" can restrict the flow of Qi, Blood, and body fluids in the 12 Primary Acupuncture Channels, the organs, and chakras. When this happens, imbalance, dis-ease states, and illness can result.
Grounding is connecting and letting go into the earth, freeing us so we can access our healthiest, happiest selves. When we are free of un-wanted "gunk", we have room for expansion and our Hearts can naturally open. This may be experienced as a general feeling of well-being, contentment, peace, love, and gratitude for this Life.
(How's THAT for a Valentine!)
During an Acupuncture session, if you would like to try Grounding, I may ask you to allow yourself to fully sink onto the table and imagine letting go through your entire body, down through the table, to the center of the earth. Just letting it all fall off of you. I will also use certain acupuncture points that gently encourage relaxation, release and Heart expansion.
When we can relax more deeply, Grounding and letting go of anything that is holding us back from greater healing, and sink back into our Hearts, Acupuncture treatments can be even more effective.
