Embarking on Growth & Connection: Omega Lamplighters Mentoring Program Introduces February In-Person & Zoom Sessions

February began with a captivating virtual session of our Omega Lamplighters Mentoring program on February 5th, featuring the insightful guest speaker, retired Assistant Police Chief, Glenn Scruggs. His discourse on "Navigating the System: Black Teens & Police Interactions" offered our mentees invaluable perspectives and guidance.

Adding an element of fun and learning, the Black History trivia game via Kahoot engaged participants, with Lamplighter Ali Burns emerging as the victor, earning a well-deserved $10 Amazon Gift Card.

Continuing our momentum, our in-person session on Saturday, February 24th proved equally enriching, thanks to our collaboration with Kingship Chess. Teaching our mentees the strategic game of chess as part of our STEM initiatives not only fostered critical thinking but also contributed significantly to their personal and academic growth.
