Hello friends and followers! One of my goals this spring/summer is to perfect my work-from-porch setup. Last year I tried a few times to sit outside while taking care of admin stuff and minor tasks, but it was not ideal and my attempts didn't last long. I think I can make it work if I can just find the right outdoor furniture to fit on my tiny side porch. Spending time outdoors after work has been doing good things for me, so it would be swell to have more of that in my day-to-day. I hope you have a chance to enjoy the sunshine as well, wherever you are.

My first book review for the AMI (Building Science Graphics by Jen Christiansen) is complete and will be posted to their newsletter in the coming weeks. But it's not exclusive to them and is also available for the public! You can read it on my blog or my Goodreads account.

Something I didn't really touch on in my review since it was written for AMI members: this book is really useful for anybody in any science communication-adjacent industry, not just medical illustrators. I wanted to mention this specifically for the many museum and planetarium professionals who subscribe to this newsletter. The ability to visually communicate complex topics is so valuable for educators in that industry and many others!

A recent medical illustration breaking down the stages of fetal heart development, illustrated for the Peoria Riverfront Museum's new Heart exhibition. Descriptive labels were added by them to explain the processes involved at each stage.
