The appetizer: Before coming to the main event, I had the pleasure to join two sports business podcasts earlier this week. I really appreciate the opportunities provided to me by SportsPro Media (h/t Eoin Conolly & Tom Bassam) and Unofficial Partner (h/t Richard Gillis & Sean Singleton) to share my view on how the current sports hiatus impacts the sports media landscape in the short term. We also tackled more fundamental trends at the intersection of sports, media, and technology. Please give them a listen, it was a lot of fun, and hopefully, I shared some interesting angles on what is currently going on: |

The main event: About four months ago, Ralf Leister (FussballWirtschaft.de) and I launched our own bi-weekly sports business podcast — tackling the most interesting news on a bi-weekly basis and adding our thoughts. Currently, the podcast is in German only, but let's see where this is going in the future. More information can be found on OFFTHEFIELDBUSINESS.de. The latest episode from earlier this week: |

With their annual extravaganza in the rear-view mirror, there still might be some disruption coming: As the McMahon-led company reconsiders its media distribution/monetization strategy amidst stock market pressure, is it transitioning back into pure-play B2B business? WWE Transitioning Back into Pure-Play B2B Business? I shared my thoughts with Sports Illustrated's John Wall Street for his daily newsletter. |
