PASTORAL PAGE OUT OF OUR COMFORT ZONE by Snr Ps Beh Soo Yeong Over the past few weeks, we have been looking at how the Holy Spirit had inspired a group of disciples to be his witnesses some two thousand years ago. Fascinating stories of miracles, supernatural interventions as well as ordinary incidents of obedience and submission. Clearly, the kingdom of God expanded, and the gospel spread, despite the tumultuous circumstances. God’s people were persecuted, yet they brought the gospel wherever they went, including places they were very uncomfortable in, like Samaria for the Jews. That was the key, wasn’t it? Ordinary people who “simply” brought their faith along wherever they went. Ordinary people doing extraordinary stuff, because they were obedient to the Holy Spirit’s bidding and direction, even when out of their comfort zone. Does the Holy Spirit work today?......... If you are going through a season of challenges and need emotional support, the Lay Counselling Ministry in the Bible Church would love to pray and journey with you through your struggles and difficulties. Trained counsellors are available to help with pastoral care and short-term counselling for children, youth and adults, including TBC members, regular attendees and those seeking Christian counsel. Bring the love of Jesus to migrant workers at Kranji Recreation Centre through your friendship and hospitality. We welcome all with a heart for these brothers to join our kopi sessions – 1st and 3rd Sundays, 4.30-6pm Kranji Recreation Centre, 11 Kranji Close #2 Gladiolus Place Together with the Ladies Ministry, join us for monthly baking or craft sessions at Gladiolus Place – a non-profit Christian residential refuge for at-risk teenage girls. CG RETOOLING IN THE MONTH OF MAY How do you enlarge the pool of readied and opened outreach targets in your circle of influence? How do you cultivate the hearts of yet-unreceptive pre-believers, and plant the seed of the gospel? How do you know when is the best time to bring in the harvest and to share the gospel winsomely? Join us for three Fridays of CG Retooling to learn practical handles for your personal outreach using the strategy of Cultivate, Plant and Reap (CPR). Discover how your CG or small groups can make use of CPR in conjunction with the Alpha Course to reach your family and friends. All CGLs are requested to rally your members to attend the sessions. The sessions will replace your regular CG meetings for the month of May. Please speak with your CG Overseers if you have any questions. Thank you for making time to join the sessions. CHINESE MINISTRY PARENTS' DAY The Chinese Ministry (CM) will be celebrating Parents' Day on 28 May 2023. There will be a gospel message at the worship service by Rev Dr Lim Teck Peng (林德平牧师). Members are encouraged to invite their pre-believing parents and friends for the occasion. After the service, please join us for a lunch fellowship at JB 101 Seafood (45 Science Park Rd, #01-03/04, Science Park II, Singapore 117407) from 11.30am to 2.00pm. The cost is $20 per person. CHURCH CAMP 2023 Following last year's memorable campference where we learnt a lot about the views of different generations, we continue with these intergenerational conversations at our long-awaited church camp, which will be held from 16-19 June (Fri-Mon) at Forest City Marina Johor Bahru. With the theme “Gen Fest - Celebrating the Generations”, let's take a time out together to hear from Reverend Tan Kay Kiong as he shares more about the multigenerational church and God's plans for us.
