I Got The Blues

As you know... I've been going on and on and on about

blue, blue blue!

 Enough already...do something about it!

This week I finally did do something about it. It's been percolating as I kept looking at the growing stack of cyanotypes on my art table, moving them around the studio to get them out of the way, taking care of business instead of art play...and I finally had it, and made the space and time to do it...make art with my cyanotype sun prints.

What got me warmed up was a 70% off canvas sale at Michaels, where I picked up 10 gallery wrapped 10"x 10" canvases...I love a bargain! Adding a few layers of Venetian plaster and paint to each, keeping the palette very neutral allowed room for the blue cyanotypes to really stand out and be the stars that I think they are!

After I laid them all out, there was something they needed besides texture and marks...they needed a little bling. Out comes the gold leaf to save the day! Each piece got a touch of gold leaf as the supporting cast to the blues in the paper. I'm so happy how they turned out...happy the whole way through creating them as a matter of fact!

While these pieces are hot off the press, they won't be available until later this year. They were created for a company that licenses my artwork...which is very exciting! Though...if you like these and the idea and versatility of a group of paintings to spruce up or finish off your decor...you might entertain the idea of commissioning me to paint pieces in your very own color palette to do the job!

And when I say versatile...I'm not kidding around! You up your options of hanging designs with a group of paintings from formal to relaxed...you can even split them onto separate walls...or even separate rooms! You can switch them around to keep your decor looking fresh, and even add them in with other art or dimensional pieces to create a more eclectic look. Art play for sure!

line em up...

boxed up in a grid...

more relaxed, jumbled and casual...
