6 P.M. - "Pot Luck!"

6:30 P.M - Monthly  Meeting

Happy Labor Day Everyone!  Well, it looks like another summer has passed us by – or at least past our friends to the north by (temperature- wise)…we get to see the mercury start to get into that nice Florida zone - 70s to low 80s.  As you all know, hurricane season is still with us until November and while we hope for a continued calm season, the link below will take you to the JAX hurricane preparation guide this is the peak time of the year for us and those nasty storms.

Our Monthly Members’ meeting is coming up on Tuesday, September 6th with a "pot luck" social hour…time to show off your favorite snack, casserole, or other dinner/dessert delight!  Please come by at 6 p.m. to catch up with your neighbors and community even if you don’t have time to prepare something…there is always plenty to go around.

At this month’s meeting:

  • Our Guest Speaker will be The St Johns River Keeper, Lisa Rinaman

  • We expect to be joined by our JSO sector Chief, Chief Lolita Smith

  • We will be discussing the details for the 70th Anniversary celebration for the Club

  • We will be discussing the conceptual plans to move forward with updating our 1950s bathrooms to modern bathrooms that meet the expectations of our members and rentals as well as come in compliance with American Disability Act (ADA) standards.  Let’s face it, while we continue to seek new membership, some of our current members and our renters have special needs that we must account for…there will be a general discussion at the monthly meeting to discuss the way ahead for designing our new bathrooms as well how much this will cost.

  • Update for the 2022 COJ Neighborhood Matching Grant!

Your input and participation are welcomed and needed…

September 2022 Guest Speaker

The St Johns River Keeper

"The Voice of the River"

The vision of St. Johns Riverkeeper is to ensure

a clean and healthy river for current and future generations.

Welcome to The St. Johns Riverkeeper: Lisa Rinaman

As the St. Johns Riverkeeper, Lisa Rinaman serves as the chief advocate and public's voice for the St. Johns River. Her responsibilities include holding regulatory agencies and those polluting the river accountable; identifying and advocating for solutions that will protect and restore the river; working with government entities, businesses, community leaders and citizens to resolve problems that impact the river’s health; and communicating with the media and the public to educate and raise awareness about important river-related issues.

As a former senior staff member for Jacksonville Mayors John Delaney and John Peyton, Lisa Rinaman has extensive experience building consensus around issues and helped implement numerous environmental initiatives and river friendly policies.

Lisa was instrumental in the creation of Waterkeepers Florida, a formal collaboration of 15 Waterkeeper Alliance programs united across the state. She is also one of the founding members of the Free the Ocklawaha River Coalition working to reunite Silver Springs, the Ocklawaha and the St. Johns as the Great Florida Riverway.
