Announcing the publication of The Alexandrite by Dione Jones |
We're excited to announce that Dione Jones’s debut novel The Alexandrite will be launched on Tuesday, August 20th at The Women’s Bookshop, Ponsonby Road, at 6.00pm. All welcome. The book is set both in England and New Zealand with a mystery which leads from World War 1 to the present day. Graeme Lay describes the book as "gripping narrative, spanning several generations of English and New Zealand families, lent tension by the iniquities of the British class system and the differing values of its colourful cast". We'll send another ShoutOut in August. A sneak peak of the cover image and back cover blurb below. |

Who is the stranger found dead in the woods, outside Pamela, Lady Scawton's family home? Why was he carrying a stone that changes colour and a threatening letter? The quest leads from World War One to the present day and from an English village to New Zealand farmland, to discover how past events are intertwined with the present. To unravel the mystery Pamela is forced to confront truths that shatter her beliefs about her family and their place in the world. The Alexandrite is a story of class conflict, hidden sins, and deceit. |

Changes in Cloud Ink Press |
The members of the Cloud Ink Press publishing team have changed a little with the resignation of Mark Johnson who is concentrating on the completion of his own work – a fantasy trilogy, the first book of which should be published later in the year. We thank Mark for all he has contributed to Cloud Ink Press and wish him the very best. Cloud Ink are pleased to welcome Tina Shaw onto the team. Tina has wide experience both as an author and administrator. She has written numerous successful novels for both adults and children, worked for NZSA for several years and is the present editor of ‘The Author’. |
