President’s message:

This month I will be installed as the next President of NCBWL. As I take office I do so with excitement and trepidation. We have been blessed by so many wonderful women that have led our organization and I am humbled to follow them. A special thank you goes out to Debbie Lassiter, our outgoing President and the Board that served with her. Through their leadership we have seen a growth in our membership, better communication and a number of new programs and events. Thanks to all who have contributed. We have supported a number of Catholic organizations, such as sponsoring a table at the Catholic Charities, Pathways to Possibilities breakfast.

We have broadened our commitment to service beyond the Catholic community to the communities at large with spotlighting a service project each month and supporting the Habitat for Humanity Women’s Build. We have had two successful Business Expos. A special thanks to the team for helping us to connect with women owed business, nonprofits, and networking amongst ourselves, with business spotlights at our dinner meetings. The new logo, redesigned website, newsletters and more under the direction of our creative team. In addition, having engaging speakers every month and of course our successful “Pearls of Wisdom” fundraiser. To name a few. There are many members who have contributed to making NCBWL the strong organization it is and I thank you.

As spring buds forth, I look forward to my installation and that of the wonderful women who have agreed to serve on the Board as officers and committee chairwomen. It takes all of them and their vision along with the membership to keep us a viable organization and true to our mission. We have many more things on our horizon. In December 1949 a group of Catholic women met for dinner to discuss forming an organization. They envisioned an organization of Catholic business women who could empower each other, share resources, stimulate interaction among Catholic women of all ages
and to strengthen and encourage each other through prayer, work and improve life for women. In December 1950 this organization was officially formed. We are getting ready to celebrate 70 years. WOW.

We have an exciting year before us. The auction committee is already hard at work to make our annual “Pearls of Wisdom” luncheon and auction the successful event than it has been in the past. More to come soon. We have the next quarterly communion for members on May 19 th at Holy Family Catholic Church with brunch afterward at Donna Adams house. There are some wonderful speakers for

the upcoming monthly dinner meetings. And we will be planning some commemorative celebration for our 70th anniversary. Just to name a few.

There may have been some changes in our organization to meet the needs of our members and the community, but we have stayed true to the mission and vision of our founding members.

As we go forward, I look forward to continuing to engage our members, serve our community, and be ever mindful of who we are – Catholic women.
Thank you to all.  May our Blessed Mother Mary, intercede and pray for us.

Member Spotlight:

Lynne Warne

Lynne Warne, a self-employed business owner, is the newly elected president-elect of the Nashville Catholic Business Women’s League. She will serve under President Teri Gordon for the next term.

Lynne spent 30 years in various corporate communications roles: PR, marketing communications, and employee relations for such companies as Honeywell in Minneapolis and Vought Aircraft/Triumph Group in both Dallas and Nashville.

“Though I enjoyed working in the corporate world, I left it to oversee the construction of our third Nothing Bundt Cakes bakery,” Lynne explained. “My husband managed the build-out of our bakeries in Nashville and Franklin, and he needed me to take the lead in Murfreesboro.”

“I never envisioned being an entrepreneur when I was growing up; it’s something we decided to do when my husband was in between jobs and needed to make a living for our family,” she said. “What a blessing!
