Dear Members,
Warning: High Fire Risk & Burn Ban
Elevated fire conditions persist due to dry conditions and gusty winds. Relative humidity values are very low and today we've had sustained westerly winds with gusts 20 to 25 mph. These conditions rapidly dry fine fuels--which are plentiful in RME.
The Madison County Fire Department and Madison County Board of Commissioners have had a temporary open fire ban in effect recently that prohibits all outdoor burning on public and private land. When these bans are in effect violators can face a Class 3 misdemeanor.
Residents and visitors are urged to exercise caution if handling
open flames or equipment that creates sparks. Also, dispose of cigarette butts, matches, and other flammable items in appropriate
containers. Keep vehicles off of dry grass and obey local burn bans.
Most dry grasses, dead leaves, and other tree litter could easily ignite and spread fire quickly.
If you have guests at your property, please make sure they are aware of this.
Lodge Closing for the Season
The Connie & Gus Johnson Lodge on Red Gate Road will be winterized on Sunday October 27th. There will be no access to the building until it is reopened next spring.
