LOVE ON WATERLOO UPDATE
Here's an update & photo from our Waterloo team:
Cool story of God connecting dots over the past two weeks!
It was a brisk morning downtown Kitchener as we pulled our wagon and engaged the homeless and others offering water bottles, snacks, socks and prayer.
Backstory: there is much need downtown, Kitchener. Many different types of people. And many many homeless. In the winter, our gloves would run out in a single outing even if we had many. Today, the juice boxes ran out. Two weeks ago we decided we’ll ask Mom and Pop shops to donate hot and ready food for our outreaches. So we prayed about it.
This morning, literally 5 minutes after one of our team members was talking about getting more stuff to hand out, we engaged a man standing on the street by his work truck. Turns out he OWNS two restaurants - Ace Shawarma and right across the street, Big D's Hot Chicken.
Sidestory! Yesterday, a house church leader and I 'accidentally' walked into Ace Shawarma thinking it was a pizza place. The other leader I was with said, "Ah well, I'm sure there's some reason we are here, let's get shawarma".
What!? The NEXT day we run into the owner, I was able to tell him I ate there yesterday. He was like, "What did you think!?" "The shwarma burger was awesome!" I said. At the end of the conversation he said to email him 2 days before and he'll hook us up with like 10-15 meals to hand out as we go.
Praise the Lord! For all those reading this, please go and support these businesses!
